What is the NUMS entry test?
The National University of Medical Sciences (NUMS) holds its own entry test (separate from MDCAT) for admission to AMC Rawalpindi, CMH Lahore Medical College, CMH Multan, CMH Kharian and several other affiliated PMDC colleges. Many candidates appear in BOTH MDCAT and NUMS to maximise college options.
NUMS paper pattern (similar weight to MDCAT)
- Biology — 80 MCQs
- Chemistry — 40 MCQs
- Physics — 40 MCQs
- English — 30 MCQs
- Logical Reasoning — 10 MCQs
NUMS aggregate formula (typical weighting)
- Matric: 10%
- FSc Pre-Medical: 40%
- NUMS test: 50%
Why prepare for NUMS in addition to MDCAT?
- Different question set — students often score higher on NUMS than MDCAT (or vice versa).
- AMC is among the most prestigious medical colleges in Pakistan — NUMS is the only gate.
- Several CMH colleges are NUMS-only with strong infrastructure and HEC ranking.
