MDCAT 2026 has a new date: 20 September
The postponement gave every candidate 5 extra weeks. Here's exactly what changed — and how to convert the extra time into aggregate points.
What officially changed
On 6 August 2026, PMDC postponed MDCAT 2026 from its original 16 August date to Sunday, 20 September 2026, citing directions to ensure smooth, secure and transparent conduct of the exam. Roughly 136,000 candidates are registered for this cycle.
PMDC then reopened the online registration portal (mdcat.pmdc.pk) from 17–21 August for candidates who had not completed registration. If you registered in either window, watch the portal for your updated roll-number slip and centre details — do not rely on forwarded screenshots.

The trap: extra weeks that produce nothing
A postponement feels like relief, but it flattens most candidates: revision momentum breaks, mock frequency drops, and anxiety fills the gap. The students who gain from a delay are the ones who treat the new date as a fixed wall and re-plan backwards from it — not the ones who 'restart the syllabus'.
3-week conversion plan (now → 20 September)
- Week 1: Full error-journal sweep. Re-attempt every MCQ you ever got wrong, topic by topic. No new content. Finish with one timed 180-MCQ mock.
- Week 2: High-yield drilling — Biology diagrams and physiology sequences (81 MCQs, biggest lever), organic chemistry reaction chains, physics formula application. Two timed mocks this week.
- Week 3 (final): Taper. One mock early in the week at 10:00 a.m. — the real paper's start time — then revision sheets only. Fix sleep to a 6 a.m. wake-up. Prepare admit card, CNIC and stationery two days before. Nothing new in the last 72 hours.
- Every mock: score it against the passing floor (99/180) AND against your target college band — aim to see 150+ consistently if you're chasing a government seat.
After the test — what happens next
PMDC has previously indicated results within days of the test rather than weeks. Provincial admission portals (UHS for Punjab, and counterpart universities for Sindh, KP and Balochistan) open preference submissions after results, and selection lists then cascade until seats fill. Keep your Matric/FSc documents, domicile and photographs scanned and ready now — the post-result window moves fast.
